Line a Slow Cooker with Foil and Throw in Sliced Potatoes. When It’s Done, You’ll Be Begging for More!
If you are in need of inspiration for a nice meal today, we’ve got a perfect suggestion for you – slow-cooked recipe for hasselback potatoes. This recipe is very simple and its preparation doesn’t take too much time. It also allows you to experiment with the ingredients and add some of your own preference.
To prepare this delicious recipe you will need the following ingredients:
- 4 red potatoes, or as many as you like (make sure they fit your slow cooker);
- 2-3 tablespoons of oil (or butter);
- 2-3 teaspoons of salt;
- filling ingredients (this is where you can experiment: add cheese, sour cream, chives, bacon, or anything you like);
- aluminum foil
- Prepare the Potatoes
Wash the potatoes in clear water and brush them well to remove any dirt or anti-sprouting agent. You should also cut off any sprouts/eyes or soft spots. Then, using a knife slice straight down into the potato, but make sure to leave at least a half-inch of uncut potato at the bottom.
You can achieve this by laying a butter knife flat alongside your potato and use it as a guide – cutting only to the top of it, or you can also rest the potato on a large serving spoon and use it as a guide. The cuts should be deep enough to fit the fillings.
- Place the Aluminum Foil
Next, use aluminum foil to line the bottom of your slow cooker. Place the potatoes on top of the aluminum foil and then pour some olive oil over them or brush them with some butter. You can also use a mix of the two for an even richer flavor. Season them with salt and pepper to your liking.
- Start Cooking
Then, set your slow cooker to high and cover it. Your potatoes should be cooked until soft for at least 3-4 hours, so set your timer.
- Prepare the Fillings
Once your potatoes start cooking, you can start preparing your fillings. You can use some shredded cheese, minced herbs, crumbled bacon, or any combination of ingredients to your liking.
- Stuff Your Potatoes
Once your potatoes are ready, stuff them with your favorite fillings and serve.
Enjoy your delicious meal!
